History

The Hornby 88DS ‘Hilsea’ represents Ruston & Hornsby’s durable 0-4-0 industrial shunter, delivered new to British Gas (Southern) in 1961. Based at Hilsea Gas Works, No. 1139 worked shunting duties until its retirement and preservation in the late 1980s.
