Description
The USS Yorktown (CG-48) was a Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser in the US Navy, commissioned in 1984. Equipped with the Aegis Combat System, it excelled in air defense, capable of tracking and engaging multiple targets simultaneously. Armed with SM-2 missiles, Harpoon anti-ship missiles, and Tomahawk cruise missiles, it had versatile offensive and defensive capabilities. The Yorktown also had advanced anti-submarine warfare systems, including torpedoes and helicopters. It was involved in various operations, including the Cold War and Gulf War. Decommissioned in 2004, it marked a significant era in naval warfare with its cutting-edge technology.
