Description

A Spitfire Mk VB (USAAF) is a variant of the British Supermarine Spitfire fighter aircraft that was operated by the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) during World War II. These were typically powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin 45 engine and featured a “B wing” with both machine guns and cannons. The USAAF used these aircraft primarily in Europe after 1941, especially for air superiority and ground-attack roles, and it was a common sight at airfields like Membury.
