Aoshima 1:700 IJN Seaplane Tender Kamikawa Maru Naval Warship Model

Description

Built as a cargo ship for Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, the ship was assigned to the New York route, but with the outbreak of the Sino-Japanese War, it was requisitioned as a special seaplane carrier and engaged in operations on the Chinese front.
During the Pacific War, he participated in the invasion of the Dutch East Indies and the evacuation of Kiska Island. In May 1943, while on a transport mission, she was torpedoed and sunk by a US submarine.
