The A20 series first generation Celica, born in December 1970, was advertised as “coming from the land of the future,” and its “Full Choice System,” which allowed customers to freely select the engine, transmission, interior, etc. of their choice, became a hot topic. The Celica became a hit as soon as it was launched, but underwent minor changes in August 1972, including changes to the tail lights and fuel tank.
