Description
Hasegawa’s great 1/350 Yukikaze kit, re-released as it appeared during Operation Ten Ichi-Go, the suicidal final mission of the battleship Yamato and its escorts to sail to Okinawa to attempt to turn back the Allied forces. The Yamato and most of her escorts were lost to US Naval aircraft en route to Okinawa, but the Yukikaze survived.
This is a variant of the fine Hasegawa Yukikaze it was released in 2006, including parts necessary to build her as she appeared during Operation Ten Ichi-Go. The kit also includes a soft metal 1/350 US Navy TBM-3 Avenger torpedo bomber. Very poignant box art featuring the Yukikaze in the foreground with the hazy figure of the Yamato off in the background, sailing off to its destiny on the way to Okinawa.
